I'm So Tired

My mind is on the blink and I forgot to upload this yesterday, when we did a second tire run; I think we got rid of another fifteen. There are still a few left, here and there, though I'm not sure when they are scheduled to go. Here's the usual Larry-loaded-up picture:

We're getting there.

I am so tired of this "tread." ;)

You gals hang in there!

You poor little babies. And I am not making light.

Oh don't worry, I guffawed at that awful rotten pun just fine. :) And anyway, we sure are trying to make light!

I never thought I would ever find a blog like this ( not that I was looking for one). My father is also a hoarder and being raised in his environment has left it's scars. The fact that the conditions he allowed my sister and I to live in could have had us taken away by CPS never seemed to bother him and I'm baffled that they never did. He only cleaned up once when our landlord threatened eviction and told us we were animals... Now that I am an adult, and have been able to live independently from him, I have made a point to limit the time I spend with him, and I never go to his house. I don't know what I'm going to when he is no longer able to care for himself. It never gets easy and I commend you for the work you are doing to restore order. Hang in there.

NMMillan, have you been to the Children of Hoarders website? There is also a really marvelous Yahoo group that offers a lot of support. You can find it through that site.

It's sort of a shame we didn't start this blog earlier. You could have been around to see the 55 gallon drums of parts cleaner that he had on the property, and all sorts of awful stuff. Or when we had 144 tires ready for the tire guys to take away (they took 70 and never came back.)..

Did we ever get a picture of the gross of tires?

You know, Sid, it's okay. The thing is that this place is getting better all the time (for another Beatles quote). My father isn't here any more to mess it up, so we can actually make some progress, and there is no backsliding. Every thing we do improves the place, and it can only go in the direction of 'better.'

And I thought it was from Madeleine Kahn in Blazing Saddles

Congrats on all the progress that you have made. It gives me hope that I will be able to tackle all the mess when my parents have to go into assisted living.
